Isoko Youths under the umbrella of Isoko National Youth Congress, INYC has called on Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeleke Adeyinka and the Inspector General of Police, Admau to fish out a police officer attached to a convoy of an Oil Company over an alleged brutalisation and molestation.
In a statement signed by the Secretary General of the group, Apostle Paul Tutu Erero, it urges the Delta Commissioner to investigate and prosecute the Police Officer involved.
According to the statement, “Few hours ago, a Nigeria Mobile Police, named Nelson with force number 444916 attached to AGIP operating in Irri town, Isoko south local government area of Delta State abused and molest one of our own, a law abiding citizen, Comrade Sagacious Louis, the Director of Mobilization, Isoko Nation Youth Congress (INYC) for no just course.
“The issue, on getting to the table of INYC President , Engr Godstime Oghenero Akokotu condemn in totality the ruthless unwarranted action of the said Mobile Police and promised that Justice must be done.
“The Isoko Nation Youth Congress can’t afford to tolerate this oppression from the Nigeria Police and that the Isoko youth body is taking this issue to any length for justice”. He added.
Contacted Comrade Sagacious Louis said, “At about 9.am today, I boarded a bike coming from my house and we saw the convoy coming from toward Asaba and suddenly the security Hilux van just blocked our way and I said, Oga Make Una allow us pass.
“The two mobile policemen jumped down and the beating started and they used the Butt of their gun to injure me on my head.
While trying to leave me with the pool of blood, I jumped into their van and on getting to Oleh in Isoko South, they met with their convoy and they told man they were excorting that I was about disarming them.
Without giving me any audience, the man said I should be put on the hilux, from their I shouted and as people were coming they entered their vehicles and zoomed off.
“Then I have to go back to Ozoro to incident the case and the Police gave me note before I went to Ozoro General hospital to get treatment.
Condemning the alleged molestation, Chief Afahokor Duncan Akpovienehe said, “This police brutality against our brother Sagacious Louis from the great Ozoro Kingdom is condemned in the strongest terms.
“I hereby call for the arrest and prosecution of the police officer who carried out this dastardly assault on an innocent citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria. The police identity is known to the victim, there is no hidden place for the wicked”. Duncan said.
All efforts to speak with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onowakpoyeya was not successful at the time of this report.
